‘This is the future’: Melbourne hospital first to successfully use microsurgery robotics
St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is the first health system in Australia and the Asia Pacific region to adopt the Symani Surgical System. The newly created Clinical Microsurgery Robotic Unit led by Dr. Eldon Mah, a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon at SVHM, performed a free flap reconstruction on Geoff, the first patient in Australia treated with robotic-assisted microsurgery, to repair his leg following skin cancer removal from his thigh. 9 News Melbourne featured Geoff and Dr. Mah to detail how Symani is expanding complex reconstructive options for patients.
