Leading New Jersey hospital treats first patient with new robotic surgical approach to manage symptoms of breast-cancer related lymphedema
‘Groundbreaking New Supermicrosurgery’: Hackensack Meridian Health expands surgical lymphatic care with robotic microsurgery
Surgeons at Hackensack Meridian Health are transforming care for patients struggling with lymphedema using a new approach enabled by the Symani Surgical System. Nora, the first patient in New Jersey to be treated with Symani, developed lymphedema in her left arm 30 years ago following breast cancer treatment. After a second battle with breast cancer, surgeons offered her new hope by performing robotic-assisted lymphovenous bypass surgery which resulted in reduced swelling in her arm.
In the feature below, ONNJ interviews Nora and Dr. Richard Winters, Chair of Plastic Surgery to learn more about how robotic-assisted surgery with Symani is helping to restore quality of life for lymphedema patients.
