For millions of patients, their quality of life is severely impacted due to the complexity of their conditions and difficult–to-perform surgeries.
We saw the potential to expand treatment options for patients by empowering more surgeons to practice microsurgery and supermicrosurgery in open, soft tissue procedures. We knew this would only be possible by dramatically advancing technology to better support surgeons who work tirelessly on vessels and nerves that are less than a few millimeters in diameter. These surgeries can benefit from more accuracy and precision, which ultimately lead to less trauma and faster recovery. But only a limited number of surgeons are trained in these techniques.
Our innovation pathway was clear; only a miniaturized articulated instrument could repair tiny, delicate anatomy. We focused first on developing the world’s smallest wristed instrument. Then we created the only customized, robotic platform capable of delivering the precise movement such a small instrument demands. This is the Symani Surgical System, proof that our relentless commitment to innovation is changing the impossible.
