New surgical treatment option using robotic microsurgery brings relief to breast cancer survivor with lymphedema
‘Yale New Haven Health’s new microsurgery robot improving lives’
Robotic microsurgery is transforming care for lymphedema patients, enabling surgeons with enhanced precision to perform challenging reconstructive procedures such as lymphatic repair. At Yale Medicine, Dr. Luccie Wo, Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon, used the Symani Surgical System to perform lymphovenous bypass (LVB) surgery for patient Angela Suphin, who developed painful swelling in her right arm following breast cancer treatment in 2023. The robotic-assisted procedure relieved Angela’s pain and restored mobility, just in time for her to hold her newborn grandson.
News8 spotlighted her experience and how Yale New Haven Health is advancing treatment options for lymphedema patients with a technology-enabled approach to microsurgery.
