Primary Function of Position:

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will help conceptualize, develop and support the mechanical design and fabrication of a novel medical robotic system equipped with micro-articulated instruments. The engineer will take responsibility for the successful design of specific system components and will have the opportunity to work within a high caliber multidisciplinary team.

He/She must be able to report progress and milestones relative to the overall project development.

Specific activities include:

  • Generation of new device concepts and solutions;
  • Detailed prototype design of components and complex systems, fabrication and test;
  • Analyze, test and improve the product designs;
  • Concept and design documentation, review and control;
  • Select and develop vendors to manufacture components;
  • Coordinating the procurements of components and external services;
  • Managing the internal mechanical labs.

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical engineer or similar;
  • At least 5 years of experience in design of micro-mechanical systems and precision manufacturing;
  • Familiarity with new materials, micro-fabrication process, cable driven mechanisms, friction effects and kinematic analysis;
  • Knowledge of Rapid Prototyping technique and hands-on assembling complex micro-mechanisms;
  • Comfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification and transfer;
  • Strong understanding of component selection criteria, and design for reliability and manufacturability;
  • Comfortable operating machine shop equipmentProficiency using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred);
  • Experience designing medical products accordingly with medical device ISO regulation is a plus;
  • Inter-disciplinary understanding of robotics, electronics, software and control;
  • Good communication and documentation skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Professional written and spoken English.

Senior Mechanical Engineer


Senior Electronic Design Engineeer

Primary Function of Position:

The Senior Electronic Design Engineeer will design, implement and verify electronic hardware for medical robots and their components. He/She must be able to report progress and milestones relative to the overall development project.

The primary responsibility of the position will be electronic boards designsensors and wirings.

Additional responsabilities include contributing to multiple areas of electronic development, including but not limited to the following:

  • Managing the electronic labs;
  • Operating electronic measurement equipment;
  • Developing firmware;
  • Coordinating the procurements of components and external services.

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineer;
  • At least 5 years of experience designing complex printed circuit boards (PCB);
  • Knowledge of power electronics, motor control, signal and sensors acquisition;
  • Experience selecting and integrating off-the-shelf components;
  • Professional use of Electronic CAD systems;
  • Strong ability to isolate and debug embedded hardware problems;
  • Comfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer;
  • Strong inter-disciplinary understanding of mechanics, manufacturing, control and software;
  • Good communication and documentation skills, generation of formal design documentation, review, and control;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Professional written and spoken English;

Senior Software Engineer

The successful candidate must excel in a high-energy, small team environment, be able to drive to solutions from formal requirements, and have a commitment to high product quality. Primary Function of Position:

The Software Engineer will develop, implement and verify software for a teleoperated robot for microsurgery. Together with system architecture software design, the other responsibilities of the position will be to develop code in a real-time operating system to control multiple coordinated axis of motion, read sensors and HMI input.

The Sr. Software Engineer will ensure that the code is robust, thoroughly tested, meets requirements and conforms to the coding standard.

The Sr. Software Engineer will work on a cross-functional team to architect new features in a complex, distributed, hierarchical state machine. Other activity include help perform formal risk analysis and develop and verify software mitigations.

They will work closely with other senior technical team members to ensure that system software requirements/designs meet overall system requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar;
  • At least 5 years of experience required in industrial software development from concept to production;
  • Proficiency in development of robust and efficient software code.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in LabVIEW to CLA or CLED level, MATLAB and C/C++;
  • Experience in formal Architectural Design, Analysis and Testing of concurrent Real Time State Machines and SW;
  • Experience working with Bug Tracking and source control tools and SW life cycle management and production tools;
  • Experience developing software accordingly with medical device regulation;
  • Strong Inter-disciplinary understanding of robotics, electronics, software and control;
  • Good communication, documentation and team working skills;
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills.
